THE STORY OF TOGO
TogoRun captures the indomitable spirit of Togo — Leonhard Seppala's lead dog in the 1925 Great Race of Mercy across Alaska that is now commemorated by the annual Iditarod. Togo is the race's untold story.

As professional communicators, we all know 'the story is the thing.' A story breaks down barriers. It builds understanding. It fosters trust and camaraderie.

The untold story is even more powerful. It challenges our belief system and forces us to think differently. It inspires us to change our behavior and share that inspiration with others.

We named our company after the untold story of a Siberian husky, who risked everything to save a village in Alaska from succumbing to a deadly outbreak of diphtheria.

Many may have heard of the 1925 Race for Mercy, commemorated in the annual Iditarod race, when sled dog relay teams were the only hope to deliver life-saving serum over 600 miles of treacherous ice, in minus 85 degree temperature and in blinding snow to Nome villagers. Many also may have heard of a dog named Balto, who ran the last leg of the race and became a Hollywood star.

But the untold story of that race is about Togo, an undersized husky known for his unrivaled speed, unbounded energy and uncanny navigation over uncharted territory. Togo took on the most treacherous segment of the relay race and covered over 350 miles—more than five times the terrain of the other teams. Togo may not have been the one who crossed the finish line first, but he was the one who made that last lap even possible.

We love Togo's untold story, especially as an allegory for the health and well-being breakthroughs that are being forged by our clients every day. Uncovering and telling these stories is our specialty. Uncharted territory doesn't scare our clients and it doesn't scare us. It makes us stronger and more determined than ever to beat the odds, go the extra mile, enhance and save lives and make the world a healthier and happier place.

We hope you will jump on the sled and come run with us. We look forward to learning more about your specific objectives and challenges and working with you to tell your untold story, create visionary and pragmatic solutions and give you the best agency experience of your career. We are pulling for you!

OUR VALUES
Commitment, Courage, Creativity and Craftsmanship. These values define the spirit of TogoRun and bring special vitality to our work. By living and breathing these values, we deliver exceptional results to our clients and provide a rewarding, energizing agency experience.

COMMITMENT: TogoRun believes in the power of commitment. We share our clients’ passion for improving the world by advancing health and well-being. We’re fueled by confidence that we will succeed. Like the great Himalayan explorer William Hutchison Murray and the visionary literary figure and thinker Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, we believe that the world moves in powerful ways when like-minded people share a common purpose. These are the words we live by...

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative, there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
– William Hutchison Murray and
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

COURAGE: Like the fearless sled dog Togo, our clients break new ground and we’re right there with them. We never take the beaten path and always forge ahead with confidence knowing that setbacks are just turns in the road, challenges are meant to be overcome and the power of teamwork and hope can move mountains. Our courage is nourished by the promise of improving the world through advances in health and well-being. We face challenging territory together without fear, certain that our vision will lead us to success.

CREATIVITY: TogoRun team members challenge themselves to keep their minds open, expand their own horizons and let their creativity flow freely. We begin each assignment by flipping it on its head and reaching further stretching our minds in pursuit of new ideas and strategies that help our clients reach their goals. In this inspired atmosphere, our award-winning creative shop, StudioTogo, transforms ideas and strategies into materials that resonate, motivate and win over audiences. With more than 200 industry awards under our team’s collective belt, we know that creativity is what often makes all the difference.

CRAFTSMANSHIP: As professional communicators, we are deeply dedicated to our craft, take great pride in our work and mean it when we say that we pursue excellence everyday. With the need for centralized and integrated communications strategies in a 24-7 world, our craft has become even more exciting and demanding. We are up for the challenge, learning every day and that includes new technologies, new techniques and new approaches. We continuously develop and hone our skills with the goal to provide our clients with the best agency experience of their careers.

There’s delivering healthcare and then there’s delivering healthcare. In 1925, the village of Nome, Alaska was threatened by a terrible diphtheria outbreak. To get desperately needed serum to Nome and save the village, Alaska’s top dog sledders volunteered to make the 674-mile run despite terrible odds and even worse weather. One hundred and fifty sled dogs led the miraculous ...

At the turn of the millennium, and to great fanfare, Tony Blair and his Labour Government announced a ten-year plan of reform for the NHS.

Heralded as the biggest change to healthcare in England since the NHS was formed in 1948 - a claim also levelled at the 2012 Health and Social Care Act - the imaginatively titled NHS Plan outlined a series of changes that by 2002 had led to the creat ...

International Women's Day

TogoRun not only knows how to throw a great party, we also know how to make a lot of noise about issues we care deeply about.

With the 2014 Iditarod coinciding with International Women’s Day, we took it upon ourselves to sponsor a Tweet chat on March 8, in collaboration with FitFluential, a national network of health and wellness enthusiasts, to celebrate these outstanding women mushers and other women who have excelled in breaking barriers for women in their respective fields.

With outreach efforts led by our peerless group of social media experts, our hashtag for the Tweet chat – #togorunwomen – which included our President Gloria Janata, was soon trending, and at one point became the top trending US conversation on Twitter!

When TogoRun barks, you can be sure we’re going to be heard!

"Commitment"

I wanted to let you know that your team did an excellent job with respect to the preparations and execution of the international media program for RSNA 2013. Based on the initial media coverage, we can already say that the program was a big success. It was a packed program with complex logistics, and we could not have pulled it off without your support.

JUMP ON THE SLED
Are you ready to run with our team? TogoRun is a fast-growing, fast-paced agency with a unique, entrepreneurial working environment that focuses on good karma principles. If you have unstoppable energy and ideas, like to keep your circle positive, love the challenge and dynamism of PR and are passionate about improving our world, we want to hear from you.

One office, one team, different geographies. TogoRun has built an exceptional boundary-less work environment that thrives on trust, respect and positive energy. To keep everyone connected, a weekly newsletter "Togo-a-Gogo" is distributed with key client and new business updates across all offices, the latest trends in media and policy, career development training opportunities and fun personal news and information, like Bucket Lists and vacation pictures. We move forward with encouragement and improvement, not through criticism and judgment. We want our entire team to flourish both personally and professionally and to strike a healthy balance between the time spent on and off the sled.

A healthy, positive workplace requires ongoing nourishment. We stay motivated with a range of special programs, including Manic Mondays where delicious lunches are provided; Wine Down Fridays, that may include anything from champagne and ice cream to tapas and a wine tasting; and team-building excursions that almost always end up at a karaoke bar or late night jazz club. We also award employees each year with Passion Grants to help them fulfill a personal passion and recognize one teammate each year with the Spirit of Togo award, acknowledging how he or she lives up to TogoRun values of commitment, courage, creativity and craftsmanship.

TogoRun's unique culture is central to our success. We better serve our clients and drive new growth by sustaining our unique, supportive working environment. And we all take the Spirit of Togo Promise.
